China 2010

It has been said, "without an investment, most people forget to pray."  Thus, if the point of support letters is to find people to pray, then it is our objective to find people invested in prayer through being invested financially.  With that said, we will be going to China this summer.

This summer, six of us from our church in Boston will be going to a Christian university called YUST in Yenji, China to teach English for its summer program. Most support letters usually talk about the trip, ask for prayers, and at the very end give a blurb about asking for "financial support".  However, if it's true that without investment, most people forget to pray, and if money is necessary in order to get somewhere, then it is with that line of thought that boldly we ask from God as we ask of you for your committed prayers.

We need you to invest in the commitment of prayer in order for us to go.

It takes money to get on a plane, money to have a roof over our heads, money to eat, and money to run a school.  If we had to, we could save up the money needed to fund this trip, but mission trips were never about going alone. When we ask you to support us in prayer and finances, we are asking you to come along with us.  Who knows what glorious things we'll see, what amazing things God will do.  So, we are asking that you journey with us.

In order to fund this trip, each of our team members will need to raise approximately $2500.  And even though our group is comprised of six members, we will be raising enough to fund a group of seven. The reason we are raising funds for an extra person is because in most cases, short-term mission trips are about our going someplace and giving our support to an established organization.  As much as they are that, by the end of the trip, we the visitors end up receiving the abundant blessings.  In light of that, we will be raising for a seventh member to give that money as an offering to those who so humbly and faithfully serve full time at the university. We want to give to them the same number of dollars it took for each of us to get there, to live among them, and to receive insight into what great things God is doing.

We are asking and praying for the following: 438 fellow travelers who will pray with us as we go to China and invest a set amount. We are not asking for an obscure amount of money in hopes that we'll receive just enough to go, but we're asking for 438 individuals who are convinced and convicted to share in our mission to invest forty dollars exactly, no more and no less.  We would rather have a small amount of money from a large group of people instead of a great sum of money from a few.  If it's true that people will pray only if they've invested, then we are hoping for 438 prayers lifted on our behalf on a daily basis.  So the only question that remains is: will you go with us?

If you would like to join us as we go please reply to this email to receive our prayer requests as well as a report of our trip at our return and click on the link below.  Thank you!
